Special Report: Violent crime increases in L.A. for third straight year

Violent crime increased in Los Angeles for the third straight year, according to LAPD statistics.

With more than 290 people killed in the city this year, homicides were up 5% compared with last year. Robberies were up by 13% and aggravated assaults were up by 10%; rapes were down by 4%.
